Jermain Taylor is a retired American professional boxer who was born on August 11, 1978, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was considered one of the best middleweight boxers in the world during his prime. Taylor turned professional in 2001 and made his professional debut against Chris Hall which he won by knockout in the second round.
Throughout his boxing career, Taylor held multiple world titles including the WBC, WBO, and IBF middleweight titles. His most notable wins were against former champions such as Bernard Hopkins, Cory Spinks, and William Joppy.
However, Taylor's career was marred by controversies and personal problems, particularly outside of the ring. He suffered a devastating knockout loss to Kelly Pavlik in 2007, which initiated a downward spiral in his career. He retired from boxing briefly but came back to continue fighting.
Taylor's career ended with a record of 33 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, with 20 knockout victories. In recent years, he has had a few legal and personal issues, including a brief stint in jail for gun-related charges in 2019.
